Summer Fun, Kai's 6th Birthday and a new job for Chad

This has been a really nice summer so far. We have enjoyed going on the boat with my sister, going to the beach and park regularly, playing t-ball, taking piano lessons, going to Silverwood to celebrate Kais 6th birthday, and riding some major bikes. Luke has been a trooper with everywhere we've taken him these past couple of months.

Silverwood was last Sunday. We took the boys, Jaden and Louie, Seth, DQ's family, and Grammy. We all had a really good time.

On July 15th, Chad started a new job with Macy's and is now home with us on evenings and weekends. It is way more challenging (and interesting) than his old job and he is really enjoying it.
So that's kind of what we've been up to.

First of all, happy 9 months to my beautiful little boy Lukey! What a doll-of-a-son I have! He is so happy and loving and just all around sweet, I couldn't be happier with being his mom. This past week, we discovered that Luke had started to get his top incisor (I think that's the name of it). It is going to look really funny when it comes all the way in because he hasn't gotten the middle ones yet. Dracula baby we shall call him!

So what else are we up to? Well, enjoying the summer is probably the best way of putting it. Two weeks ago, Malachi started piano lessons and tee ball. So far both are going pretty well. Malachi has an uncanny ability to appear to not be listening even when he is. I only wish his coaches and teachers knew this about him. He is so smart; Lord help me. He is such a loving child too, he always wants to dote on Luke and hug and kiss me. I absolutely adore that about him. Even when his mouth is going a mile a minute, I love being around that child!

Chad starts his new job on Monday. It is a great promotion for him and I think he'll be much happier with the challenges that the new job will provide him. I am a little sad that the boys won't be able to be with one of us all the time, but for now they will be with Auntie Cara, so that makes me happy.

Teddy Bear Tea and Kindergarten Graduation

Well, it's official... Malachi has completed kindergarten and is off to first grade in the fall. The week before his graduation, his class performed a program called Teddy Bear Tea for the parents. It was very cute. Malachi didn't feel much like participating is evidenced by the pictures...

So a week later was the graduation ceremony. He was slightly more cooperative (and way more excited)

What's new with us...

Well, the long and short of it is not too much.


Malachi...
Soccer is over for the season and I think it's highly unlikely my sweet little daydreamer is going to play again. So much for my dream of being a soccer mom, driving around in my fancy SUV with a big STING decal dashing from game to game, cheering on my star player and BSing with the gals. Ah, not my style anyway.

School is almost over as well, which I think I am more excited about than he is. I am so lucky he is so stinking bright that I don't have to really worry too much about him in school (yet). He's known the kindergarten curriculum since day one. He reads phenomenally well and comprehends way above his age. I guess that is a blessing and a curse. Being outsmarted by a five year old, especially when you consider yourself fairly bright, is somewhat unnerving.

Ah Lucas... why do these boys both have to be so sweet that it makes me want to go back on my promise to Chad to be done after two babies? I sat and watched him sleep for quite awhile today. I remember doing that with Malachi several times. Today, though, the song "You're gonna miss this" kept playing over and over in my mind. It's true. I already miss this. It's one of those double edged swords, I love him being little, but at the same time, I can't wait to do all the fun stuff I get to do with Malachi again. He has started signing "milk" and I feel like it's the first thing I've really ever taught him. Hell, with an older brother like Kai, it might be the only thing I ever get to teach him. Either way, I am going to enjoy the heck out of him.

Blogging Slacker, Maui, and Baby Teeth

So blogging just might not be my thing... it's been almost a month and I've totally forgotten to post anything. So, what's new with the boys??? Malachi is reading at about a 4th grade level, playing soccer, and still in swimming lessons, although him being smarter than about all his teachers makes things interesting. Lucas is sitting up, got two teeth last week while we had him in Maui, says Daddy (much to my dismay) and is generally sweet and cute. Chad, Luke, and I went with my friends Lacy and Scott to Maui last week and had a great time. Luke got to swim in the ocean, see a volcano (he was so excited he slept the whole time), went wine tasting, and visited the seven sacred pools after going on a four mile hike to a beautiful waterfall. I will have to post pictures later after I get them off of photobucket, but hey, a post is a start.

Its my baby's half-birthday--well yesterday!

Well, yesterday Luke turned six months! I can't believe how fast it has gone! He has got to be the happiest baby I've ever met (except when it's time for bed). We've had fun taking pictures of the boys together, so I thought I would post some from the last week or so.
Today it was 70 degrees, so Malachi and I ventured outside to do some yardwork after his soccer games. He drove his tractor and I filled his trailer full of pinecones and needles and he dumped it for me in the pile. We had quite a good system down, until the baby woke up :).
